TONI&GUY was voted as a Superbrand (an accolade given to only the UK’s strongest brands) in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009. TONI&GUY was also nominated as a CoolBrand in 2006 and is essentially the first hairdressing company to receive both nominations.

TONI&GUY has 402 salons in 41 countries worldwide and 28 educational academies globally employing over 5000 in the UK and a further 2000 employees across the world!

Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck, the nineteen-year-old daughter of founder and CEO Toni Mascolo, is the youngest person ever to win the ‘Newcomer of the Year’ at the British Hairdressing Awards. She is now the Global Creative Director and her husband, James Tarbuck, is the Global Brand Director for the company.

In 2007, Sacha was nominated for the HAIR Magazine Awards as ‘Hairdresser of the Year’, The UK’s ‘Most Wanted’ Look of The Year, as well as in Fashion Focused programme for the Image of the Year award from the Fellowship of British Hairdressers.

The TONI&GUY international artistic team was again nominated in 2007 for the title of Best British Artistic Team of the Year at the British Hairdressing Awards, an accolade they have won for a record of 11 times. Essentially, TONI&GUY has also won over 85 awards – 47 of which are British Hairdressing Awards.

In 2005, TONI&GUY has launched its own professional hair care range called label.m, which has been successfully distributed to 32 markets within the last two years. TONI&GUY has also published 29 educational books and 25 video and DVD step-by-step collections to date.

In 2007, the international artistic team travelled to 25 countries and created different hair styles for numerous shows and seminars internationally, to which thousands of hairdressers attend each year.

Renowned stylists Guido, Adam Bryant, Tracey Cahoon, and Eugene Soleiman have all worked for TONI&GUY.

TONI&GUY has its own in-salon TV station featuring music videos and fashion TV. TONI&GUY’s features are notably watched by over 90,000 clients each week.

TONI&GUY Malta opened its first salon on 21st June 1994 and Gordon Mayo was appointed as the local Master franchisor.

Since then, TONI&GUY Malta has grown to 5 salons: Gzira, Paceville, Hilton, Plaza and also a salon in Gozo.

Toni&Guy won the Outstanding Achievement Award during the 2008 Malta National Fashion Awards.

TONI&GUY is now a renowned brand in the hairdressing industry in Malta thanks to their involvement in various magazines, TV shows, charities, as well as hair and fashion shows.

After finishing school in 1972, Mr Gordon Mayo started working as a junior for two years, after which he left to study at the London Institute of Hairdressing for another two years. On returning to Malta, he embarked upon a hairdressing career, and eventually opened his own salon known as Gordon’s Creations in 1976. Gordon followed several other courses in London and participated in activities at the Salon International Fair. While being advertised in the leading ‘Hairdressing Journal’, he also participated in international competitions and managed to win a third place in a prestigious competition organised by Schwarzkopf.

In 1978, he Gordon was nominated as a secretary of the ‘Maltese Hairdressing Guild’ and succeeded in convincing the authority of the time to open a hairdressing school – what is today known as the school of hairdressing at MCAST.

Gordon started bringing qualified teachers from salons abroad to train his staff, and that led him to become an Artistic Director for TONI&GUY Academy London. Gordon continued attending various courses with other reputed companies, such as: Wella, L’Oreal, Zotos, KMS, and TIGI.

In 1989, TONI&GUY started franchising in England and the first European salon opened in Germany in 1990. At the time of the initiation of the first TONI&GUY salon in Malta in 1994, only three salons were opened in Europe and this was the first step to free education to the Maltese hairdressing industry. Now there are a total of five salons: Gzira, Hilton, Paceville, Plaza and Arkadia Gozo. Gordon was appointed as the chairman and CEO of   TONI&GUY Malta, and since then he has carried out various fashion shows, TV shows, stage shows, and also educational training programmes onboth radio and TV stations. TONI&GUY Malta has also been featured on many foreign and local magazines front covers as well as being affiliated with local and foreign celebrities who participate in local shows or contests such as the Eurovision Song Contest. TONI&GUY won the outstanding  achievement award during the 2008 Malta National Fashion Awards and was the first to ever be recognised with such an award!

TONI&GUY was founded in 1963 by the brothers Giuseppe (Guy) and Gaetano (Toni) Mascolo, who were then joined by the younger brothers Bruno and Anthony.

 

It has since grown from a single unit in Clapham, South London, to a multinational company comprising  numerous salons and academies worldwide, a wide range of products, and a growing portfolio of associated companies.

Essentially, the company’s creative destiny now lies in the capable hands of Toni’s eldest child, Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck, with the commercial side of the business manoeuvred by Toni Mascolo.

Toni’s eldest son, Christian, co-launched sister-brand essensuals back in 1997, while Sacha’s husband, James Tarbuck, masterminded the TONI&GUY Media department. The latter incorporates TONI&GUY’s own TV channel TONI&GUY.TV, the launch of the award-winning TONI&GUY Magazine, the development of both PR and design, as the first communications model of its type in the UK.

The company currently comprises two global franchised hair salon groups, TONI&GUY with 231 salons in the UK and 171 internationally, essensuals with 43 salons in the UK and 22 internationally, 28 TONI&GUY Academies globally, a professional product range, two retail product ranges, an Italian-style deli-café chain and companies specialising in IT support, salon design, salon supplies, and financial services.

In 2002, Toni Mascolo also founded the TONI&GUY Charitable foundation, which is currently raising money for a TONI&GUY ward at King’s College Children’s Hospital.

In 2003, TONI&GUY launched The TONI&GUY Charitable Foundation, which is committed to raising 700,000 pounds for the refurbishment of a new children’s ward at the Variety Club Children’s Hospital, King’s College in London. It will be known as the TONI&GUY ward, which will care for chronically sick children from all over the UK.
